Gamle Huse by Henry Nielsen

This is a drypoint etching titled Gamle Huse (translation from Danish, Old House). It is by Danish artist Henry Nielsen. The etching shows a house with arches framed by trees. The artist uses the drypoint technique to enhance the shadows and texture to enhance the focus on the light colored building. It's a well-rendered scene. Little is known about this artist other than he is Danish and worked in the early 20th century. Several etchings by him are known. The image size is given. It is printed on a full untrimmed sheet 18.5 x 15 inches. It is signed in pencil lower right. The edition is given lower left 4/80. At the lower left margin is a penciled title and date Gale Huse 1934. The etching is in very good condition. It is well-struck and inked. The drypoint is striking. There is no fading, toning, staining, paper loss or tears. There is some paper creasing of the sheet lower left, but well away from the image.
