Fjord by R. Rirletter

This is a dramatic etching of a fjord, or possibly a mountain lake. It is an etching with drypoint. The artist uses the drypoint to enhance the pine trees but also emphasize the shadows of the cliffs, especially on the right side of the image. Almost invisible below the steep slopes is a tiny coastal village consisting of a handful of white buildings near the center of the image. Another interesting aspect of this etching is that the artist used a blue-tinted ink which gives the image a cooler feel. It is signed in pencil lower right. The name appears to be R. Rirletter. I've not been able to find out anything about the artist, but the piece is superbly composed and printed. It is in very good condition. There may be a slight discoloration in on spot over the background mountains, but otherwise there are no issues with the piece. It is framed, but the materials are non-archival. The frame size is 19.75 x 15.75 inches. A very dramatic etching.
