Madame B by Arthur Griffith

This is a lithograph depicting the bust of Madame B by Arthur Griffith. Both the artist and subject remain obscure. It is possible Madame B may be Madame H. P. Blavatsky a Parisian author who is referred to as the mysterious Madame B. This too will remain a mystery. The piece itself is straightforward with the woman posed with a somber expression looking out of the image at something to the right of the viewer. It is initialed in the plate AG and the title is given in the plate lower left. The full artist name is in pencil at the bottom left of the sheet. The piece is not dated, but assumed to be early 20th century. The piece is in very good condition. It is well printed with no fading, staining, toning, or paper loss. The full sheet is present and is 12.5 x 19 inches. There is a tiny paper tear at the bottom right of the sheet and a small area of marginal loss at the upper left, both well away from the image.
