Colorful Mountain by B. B. Schwartz

This is a striking painting of a closeup of a mountain. It is done in the expressionist style with vibrant colors, thick impasto, and gestural brushstrokes. A wide range of colors are used to highlight the light and shadow. This location is not named, but the piece reminds me of The Big Rock Candy Mountain in Utah because of the dramatic steepness and the variety of colors. The mountain is framed by another peak on the right and beautiful blue sky right and left. It's a very interesting composition. The piece is signed in pen lower right, but it has faded over time. Manipulating the contrast of the image suggests the artist's name is B. B. Schwartz, but I've not been able to find out anything about the artist. It is in excellent condition. Even though the signature is faded, the colors of painting are still vivid. No paint loss or damage is noted. the piece is framed. The backing is archival, but the mat is not. The framed size is 22 x 18 inches. A very cool piece of mid-century art.
