Toward August by Frank Eckmair
This is a two color woodcut of a rural scene of a broken farm implement in the long grass. The artist uses a reddish-brown ink to contrast with the black ink to evoke the sense of the heat of late summer. Eckmair has a very dramatic graphic style that takes advantage of negative space. This gives a stark, abstract appearance to what are otherwise representational scenes. He is one of my favorite artists and always have a number of his pieces in stock.
